Why track velocity over time?
A single sprint says little: the real value of velocity is in the average across multiple sprints. A stable line means a predictable team; a wildly fluctuating pattern usually points to unstable planning or team changes.
How to use this tool
- For each completed sprint, enter the committed and completed points.
- The chart shows completed points per sprint and the running average over the last 3 sprints.
- Use that average as a guideline for your next sprint planning.
- Export to CSV to paste it into your own dashboard.
Tips
- Keep at least 5 sprints for a reliable average.
- Never compare velocity between teams — points are relative.
- Mark sprints with holidays or public holidays, otherwise they skew the average.
