Why track velocity over time?

A single sprint says little: the real value of velocity is in the average across multiple sprints. A stable line means a predictable team; a wildly fluctuating pattern usually points to unstable planning or team changes.

How to use this tool

  1. For each completed sprint, enter the committed and completed points.
  2. The chart shows completed points per sprint and the running average over the last 3 sprints.
  3. Use that average as a guideline for your next sprint planning.
  4. Export to CSV to paste it into your own dashboard.

Tips

  • Keep at least 5 sprints for a reliable average.
  • Never compare velocity between teams — points are relative.
  • Mark sprints with holidays or public holidays, otherwise they skew the average.
