Reactions and comments on cards

Besides adding cards and voting, you can also react to any card with an emoji or leave a comment. That adds extra nuance without cluttering the board with new cards.

Emoji reactions

An emoji reaction is the fastest way to show you recognize something — a thumbs up, a smiley, a heart. It costs no vote and says in one click: "I agree too" or "I recognize this". Handy during the collect and group phases, when you don't want to vote yet but do want to react.

Comments

Use a comment when an emoji isn't enough: to ask a question, add extra context, or give an example related to a card. Comments stay visible on the card, even after the board has moved on to the actions phase — useful when you look back later on why a topic mattered.

When to use which

  • React with an emoji: quickly show you recognize or support something.
  • Leave a comment: explain something, ask a question, or add context the facilitator needs to discuss the topic properly.

Both work in realtime, just like the rest of the board — see the phases of a retro. To prioritize cards themselves you use voting; see Voting.
